Matrescence: The process of becoming a mother. The physical, psychological and emotional changes you go through after the birth of your child.
I’m Amanda, an elder millennial who became a first-time mom at the geriatric (in pregnancy terms) age of 36. I decided to open myself up to unsolicited criticism from strangers by blogging about my experience as a new mom and other things that come to my mind, like recipes and activities we enjoy. I’ve been blogging in some form since 2007, so the call to start a “mommy blog” was irresistible once my son was born.
A little about me: I live in southeast Michigan with my son RJ, my husband J, and two cats. My son was born in February 2023, and my second child is due in late summer 2024 when we’ll join the chaotic “2 under 2” club. I’m technically a stay-at-home mom, but I’m also a working mom because I own a few Etsy shops and a business blog, all of which have taken a backseat to motherhood. If you know, you know.
I can be reached at matrescenceblog@gmail.com.
